Peru - Weather

The combination of tropical latitude, mountain ranges, two ocean currents (Humboldt and El Niño) makes Peru a very unique climate enviroment. Twenty eight of the thirty two weather climates found in the world are present in Peru.

The Pacific Coast which includes Lima, Nasca and Arequipa, experiences the winter season between the moths of June and September. Summer time runs from December to April. However, summer tends to coincide with the rainy season in the Highlands and the Amazon.

The Highlands area including Cuzco, Lake Titicaca and Machu Picchu, has a dry and rainy season. The dry season, characterized for dry days and dry/cold nights, is from the middle of April to the end of October. The rainy season runs from November to the middle of April. The months with the most rain are January and February.

Similarly to the Coast and the Highlands, the Amazon jungle has a dry and wet season. The dry season runs from April to October with an average temperature of 30 C to 35 C. The rainy season is from November to March.
