Welcome upon arrival and transportation to your hotel in downtown San Jose.
Our adventure begins with an early morning drive to the Pacuare River for a rafting trip. Winding deep inside of one of Costa Rica's most impressive primordial rainforests, this site has been officially declared a Wild and Scenic River and offers some of the finest white water in Latin America. Breakfast is served en-route and lunch along the river. Return to Arenal in the late afternoon. (B, L)
Spend a relaxing morning on your own. In the late afternoon we will hike the trails of El Silencio and the volcanic thermal mineral pools at Tabacón Hot Springs. Arenal Volcano is breathtaking after dark when its thundering explosions and bursts of glowing rock light the night sky. (B, D)
Enjoy a cruise across Arenal Lake, before boarding a minibus bound for Monteverde. Monteverde was founded about 40 years ago by a small group of conservation-minded Quakers who were looking for a peaceful place to live. The town's Cloud Forest Reserve is one of the most outstanding wild life sanctuaries in the tropics. (B)
Spend an exhilarating morning in the air at the Sky Trek and Tram facilities. Zip from one platform built high among the trees to another while using special equipment. After that heart pounding activity, relax aboard the Sky Tram, a 5,249 feet ride up to Costa Rica's Continental Divide. You are free during the afternoon for optional tours such as horseback riding or a guided visit into the reserve. (B)
After breakfast we will drive towards the Central Pacific Coast to the Carara Biological Station. Spend the afternoon relaxing on your own. (B)
This morning we will travel to Agujitas Beach for an exciting sea kayaking adventure. Glide silently past spectacular cliffs filled with pelicans and colorful frigate birds. This intimate kayak adventure is limited to seven other paddlers and your guide. The Pacific is home to a large variety of tropical fish that can be seen while snorkeling in this underwater world. In the afternoon we will discover the fauna and flora of the Carara Biological Reserve as we walk on the hanging bridges of the reserve of Villa Lapas. (B)
Transfer back to San Jose - either to the airport or extend your stay in Costa Rica. Bon Voyage!! (B)
